Resident Council Elections
THA strongly encourages all residents to participate in the resident council nomination and election process. The officers of the council are elected by the residents of each public housing community. Any current resident may run for a Resident Council Office and may vote for candidates. You may nominate yourself or others that you feel will have your best interest at heart. Please have your nomination forms turned in to management by November 18, 2024.
The purpose of the resident council is to:
- Respond to resident needs in the community
- Represent residents and communicate with THA management
- Provide input in the design of Agency programs and agency plans
It's your time to lead your community. When neighbors in public housing come together and form an organization to improve their housing and community is the purpose of having an active resident council. Do you want to represent your community and improve the quality of life for residents living in public housing?
The role of a resident council is to improve the quality of life and resident satisfaction and participate in self-help initiatives to enable residents to create a positive living environment for families living in public housing. Resident councils may actively participate through a working partnership with the Housing Authority (HA) to advise and assist in aspects of public housing operations.
Submit form in person, call or email to make your nomination! Contact: 336-475-6137 ext. 101 or email THA.
Nominations need to be submitted by Monday, November 18, 2024, and we will have a resident council meeting and hold informational sessions.
Elections will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the resident council meeting.
